| Sinopse: |
This book is a result of detailed work over the years that has attempted to carefully assess the status of one of the most interesting Asian groups in Canada, the Filipinos. Up to now there has been no major, systematic sociological work in the English language on the Filipinos in Canada, and Anita Chen s essays go a long way to fill this gap. Her work not only throws light on the sociological character of the Filipino community, Chen also wants to see the Filipinos alongside other Asian communities and in comparison with the sociological features of Canadian society as a whole. She also tries to understand them in the context of the lively immigration flow to Canada in the past decades. [By Wsevolod W. Isajiw] |
