Long obsessed with its image in the eyes of such international monitors as the United Nations Human Development Index or Transparency International, Argentina has had its own international Institutional Quality Index for the past three years.
The Institutional Quality Index is launched every year by CIIMA and ESEADE, two research centres in Argentina, and published by International Policy Press a division of the International Policy Network (London).
It investigates the relationship between the strength of local institutions and economic, social and political freedoms. It shows that governments seeking to promote growth and stability must support strong institutions that safeguard economic freedoms and individual liberty.
